5. Famous video-game characters

Video games have been a source of entertainment for decades. But there are a few characters who had the 'X' factor which made them icons in the gaming industry.

  • Mario - He is arguably the most recognisable video-game character of all time and basically the face of Nintendo.

  • Pacman - Made a landmark in video-game history, and is among the most famous arcade games of all time; Pacman surely ruled the 1980s and early 1990s.

  • Sonic - When one heard Sega, one thought of Sonic, the speedy hedgehog that lit up the Sega console during the 1990s.

  • Lara Croft - Voted among the sexiest female gaming characters of all time. Lara Croft burst on the scene with the Tomb Raider series, making her the Guinness Book of World Records' most successful video-game heroine.

  • Pikachu - Another successful character found on Nintendo. Pikachu is widely considered the most popular Pokemon and regarded as the official mascot of the Pokemon multibillion-dollar franchise.

    4. Careers beyond the ordinary

In Jamaica and the Caribbean, we've become accustomed to working that typical 9 to 5 job. Despite the fact that these jobs are important and have a major contribution to societal development, there are other major careers that are unpopular but just as important.

  • Chemist

  • Environmental engineer

  • Chef

  • Anaesthesiologist

    3. Timeless basketball 'kicks'

There are shoe collectors all across the globe, but a true basketball fan has to own one of these legendary basketball kicks.

  • Air Jordan XI - This masterpiece hit the stores in 1996, featuring patent leather on the side that had people wearing the sneaks with suits.

  • Air Force 1 - One of the most popular shoes in the world, it has dominated basketball since the 1980s.

  • And 1 - This shoe represents the streets of basketball, with the style and creativity of the AND 1 logo.

    2. Countries to learn about

  • Malta - A small but heavily populated island nation in the middle of the Mediterranean within southern Europe with great history behind its development.

  • Baku - Baku, which means 'wind-pounded', is the largest city and capital of Azerbaijan.

    1. Manley that's important to everyone

The one and only face on Jamaica's $1,000 bill - former Prime Minister Michael Manley. He brings significant value to one's pocket, as life without him is surely a struggle.

    - Alexander Mitchell
