Orrett Rhoden greets the audience at the beginning of his recital at the University of the West Indies Chapel on Sunday, April 22, 2007. - Colin Hamilton/Freelance Photographer

Jamaican concert pianist, Orrett Rhoden along with Canadian virtuoso violinist Preston Hawes, will appear in a joint recital on Sunday May 18 at the University Chapel, Mona.

The programme will feature the works of Mozart, Schumann, Virginia-Gene Rittenhouse, and Grieg.

Mr Hawes who is in his mid-20s has performed in 20 countries extensively, and will perform this same programme with Rhoden at Carnegie Hall later this year.

Genius pianist

Orrett Rhoden is no stranger to Jamaican audiences. At 15 years old he was hailed by the late Gleaner critic Archie Lindo as " ... a genius at the piano."

Tickets for the concert are $1500 and are available at the Music Mart, Twin Gates, or at Mobile Music, Shop 6, Lane Plaza, Liguanea.
