Robert Jensch off to China
published: Sunday | April 20, 2008

Robert Jensch, Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall's outgoing general manager has had one of the greatest administrative assistants, Elizabeth Barker, in the last two years and no matter how hard he will try, he won't find the same Jamaican spirit in China. He hugs her at a farewell function two weeks ago.

Janet Silvera, Senior Gleaner Writer

WESTERN BUREAU:

Having guided the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall safely over the last two years, Robert Jensch, the resort's former general manager, has taken flight, to Hong Kong, China, to take up residence in one of the chain's high-powered properties.

And staff at the AAA Five-diamond Montego Bay resort would not allow him to depart any other way.

In a witty video presentation recently, the resort's various departments bade farewell to their beloved 'Bob', through song, poetry and even praise and worship, entertainingly delivering the popular church song, Press Along.

Noting that there would be mountains to be climbed wherever he goes, with optimism the staff said, "We call them (mountains) opportunities."

Entertaining former boss

The hotel's front office department rapped for their former boss, the White Witch Golf Course team sang his favourite song, Three Little Birds, while the meetings and special events crew spoke of his love of fluffing pillows and picking up bits and pieces around the resort.

For his trip halfway around the world, not only did Robert Jensch take the infectious love and affection of the Jamaican people with him, but he had in mind and soul Bob Marley's One Love.

Jensch's wife, Noa, and several friends and acquaintances from the business community came out to ensure he received the flower, 'forget me not'.
