Single in the city: The trouble with men
published: Sunday | April 6, 2008

Angela Philipps, Contributor

Sorry guys, but this one's a bit of a 'boy-basher'! Come again next week. Otherwise, read on and perhaps you'll learn something about what goes on in the minds of women.

I was listening to a United States radio show a couple of weeks ago, one in which the female population were invited to call in and air their issues with men.

Of course, the complaints were reminiscent of ones I've heard numerous times from my friends, and (I admit) a few I, myself, have made in the past! I am quite certain that guys could reel off many faults of ours as well, but this is girl time.

Any of you ladies wishing to voice a problem you have with your man, please do email me at angelaphilippsja@hotmail.com and I'll be sure to cover the topic during the month of May.

We all need people in our lives (well, most of us), but that does not mean that we are happy with everyone's actions. Even if we'd like to be selfish, getting our own way whenever possible and not having to deal with the rubbish others might dish out, we all recognise that to live in this world it's not possible. We must be patient and tolerant.

Verbal juices

However, that does not stop the verbal juices from flowing out of a gal's mouth when she is fed up of with blokes that she's been dating.

The trouble with men is that they:

1. Won't wash the dishes after dinner.

2. Hog the remote control and will only watch sports on television.

3. Think only sissies cry.

4. Will not talk about their problems, and feel awkward when you try and talk about yours.

5. Think it's funny to burp out the alphabet.

6. Try and act cool when their friends are around.

7. Believe it's OK to wear their underpants two days in a row because they've turned them inside out on the second day.

8. Can never buy you the correct item when you have sent them to the shops especially for a particular item.

9. Don't like to dance until they're drunk.

10. Expect women to drop everything for them.

11. Are terrible patients - your boyfriend ever had the flu? They're a nightmare when they're sick.

12. Want an award for every teeny house chore they do.

13. Never notice when you get your hair cut or styled.

14. Don't remember your birthday.

15. Are always late, and don't understand why that upsets you.

16. Think that video games should replace conversation.

17. Believe that magazines like Maxim and Playboy are literature.

18. Can't understand why women don't like kung-fu movies.

19. Don't understand the need to diet.

20. Have very fragile egos.

21. Feel the need to fix everything - emotionally that is.

22. Think cooking meat on a barbecue makes them the world's best chef.

23. Leave their dirty clothes lying around the house, expecting them to miraculously find their way into the laundry basket.

24. Think that you ought to be slim and sexy, but it's fine for them to have a pot belly.

25. Just don't get women.

Wow. Long list. Pretty sure it could keep growing though. Listen up guys, it's not that we don't like, or even love, some of you. But sometimes you drive us round the bend with the way you act. I hate to say it, but you're all rather self-centred, and it gets to us somewhat. We feel that we go out of our way for you, only to have a slamming door in the face. It's demoralising and degrading, and we'd prefer if you'd take a few moments to consider our needs. We find it incredible that you don't care what we think, because you should. The trouble with you is ...
