Countdown lifestyle - Five bad traits of a Jamaican
published: Saturday | March 22, 2008

FIVE bad traits of a Jamaican

As Jamaicans, we are known for having distinctive bad habits that identify us anywhere in the world. Here are a few that come to mind:

  • Impatience: Always in a hurry, or maybe we just hate waiting.

Always late: Simply put, There's 'normal time' and then there's 'Jamaican time'. Unfortunately, Jamaican time is usually an hour or two later than normal time.

  • Gossip/Suss: For some people, it's like a hobby or extra-curricula activity. They seem to always know more about other people's lives than their own.

  • Reactive, not proactive: Here's a scenario; A bridge that's in need of repairs for more than 10 years doesn't get fix until a young child dies from attempting to cross it on the day it falls apart. We seem to always know the problem, but never do anything until it's too late.

  • Argue/'run down': As Jamaicans, we tend to argue too much, especially over the simplest of things. Maybe its our strong, yet stubborn personality. Nonetheless, in most cases, it does more harm than good.

FOUR things that make the world go round

There are just some things that impact everyone across the globe and these are just some of them that connect the world, one way or another.

  • Money: The love of it may be the root of all evil, but, at the end of the day, it's a major determinant of the decisions we make on a daily basis.

  • Oil: As simple as it sounds, this commodity plays a major role in running the machines that help to make our lives much easier.

  • Politics: This doesn't only occur in Parliament. We experience politics everyday and everywhere we go, whether it is at home, school, church or work.

Sports: There's nothing else that can bring a nation and even the world together. The Olympics and the World Cup are two events that come to mind.

    THREE websites to check out

  • Ask men.com: It's all about guys' needs, wants and enjoyment exposed on a website.

  • Youtube.com: A website that brings you closer to the televised world.

  • Dot Com Women.com: A website that caters to all women's issues and interests
