Time for PNP politics to change
published: Thursday | March 6, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Kern Spencer is a very hard-working Member of Parliament. This was shown by the support he is getting from the people of North Eastern St Elizabeth, but I strongly believe it is full time for him to resign as the MP of North Eastern St Elizabeth and disassociate from himself from the People's National Party (PNP).

I have no doubt in my mind that Kern is a very good person and a very bright young man who has a really bright future. However, one of the things that still puzzle me is where was former minister Phillip Paulwell in all of this? Was he not monitoring what was happening to the Cuban light bulb project? I will even go futher and ask where was the former prime minister, Portia Simpson Miller? I know a good leader would have been "account-able" at the centre of his/her administration.

It is sad that Kern's political career is going in such a bad situation, and again I strongly believe that he should resign, but also, as a Comrade, I believe that Portia Simpson Miller and former minister Paulwell should also resign.

This should be a lesson to the PNP and I believe it is a time for the politics of the PNP to change.

I am, etc.,
