Defending champions Jamalco will face stiff opposition today according to coach Winston Nevers, when they meet Tivoli B in the 2008 Berger Paints Limited/ Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Super League competition at the Leila Robinson Courts.

Overall the Berger/JNA Super League comprise nine teams, Jamalco, Waulgovians, Tivoli, Police A, Jetsetters A, Arnett Gardens, Molynes United and Windalco.

In today's games, Police A will tackle Jetsetters A, Arnett Gardens will oppose Molynes United at 4:00 p.m. and Tivoli A will take on Windalco at 5:45 p.m.

Nevers stated that with the absence of the brilliant Romelda Aiken, Sunshine Girls captain Elaine Davis will have to hold the fort and help the team to effectively defend its championship title.

"I am trying to get tall players. We will try to keep the height in the goal area and in the attacking area. Our attacking area is a little bit weak this time around so we have to put out some extra effort to defend our championship this year," Nevers said.

Nevers further indicated that the team will be training with an all male-squad to improve their readiness for the competition.

Well preparedp>"We are well prepared so far. The male teams are the strongest in the country now and training with them will help to bring our team to a higher standard," he said.

"We are playing some good netball and we want to continue to play this way. The other teams are very strong and being the defending champion they are coming with the intention to take away the championship from us. Being that the team is a little weak we really have to put out some extra effort and work harder," he added.
