EDITORIAL - Options the police must use
Police Commissioner Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin is on the right track with his insistence in Montego Bay, St James, on Thursday that policemen have options to control situations other than deadly force or the threat of such force.

Caning: Six of the best

I was caned by the headmaster of Jamaica College on my last day at the school. I was one of 80 boarders. Some of the boys had entered the apartment of one of the masters the previous night and ransacked it.

Issue: Fed up with social decadence

I am a Jamaican who is fed up with other Jamaicans who try to find excuses for the total breakdown of societal values and principles.

The hope of Obama

THE EDITOR Sir: Barack Obama talks a lot about hope. He claims that hope is audacious enough to believe, embraces and realise the impossible. Such hope may be seen as hope against hope, but, from Obama's perspective, it is nonetheless, hope.
