Three charged with Kameka's death remanded
published: Saturday | March 1, 2008

Three of the four persons charged in connection with the murder of 48-year-old Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gilbert Kameka appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

They are 26-year-old Massimassa Adams of Industry Village, near Gordon Town, St Andrew; 18-year-old Kemar Dawson of Standpipe, St Andrew; and, 21-year-old Rowan Townsend, of Irish Town in St Andrew.

Resident Magistrate Paula Blake-Powell remanded them to return to court on March 19.

Nineteen-year-old Tina Gaye McEwan of Industry Village, is also charged in connection with the murder, but she was not taken to court yesterday.

The police are awaiting the ballistics and forensics reports in the case. It is likely that the case will be sent to the Home Circuit Court for trial when the men next appear in court.

ACP Kameka was shot dead on November 29 last year, during an alleged robbery attempt at a house in Irish Town.
