Dr Kathy Brown's live entertainment, a delicious assortment of food by Ciaobella, a bar that never stopped and models showcasing the trendiest items were among the main highlights of last Saturday's soirée hosted for clients of Scotiabank by president and CEO 'Bill' Clarke and his wife, Gwen.

It was not an occasion for speeches, so the hosts gave the relatively intimate gathering their undivided attention and clients from near and far used the opportunity to mingle and network. Musical Credits lived up to their reputation for excellent selections and Joylene Griffiths-Irving of the bank's corporate relations unit did a superb job of welcoming everyone and ensuring that they were entertained.

The designs from local fashion houses made the men in particular take many second glances and the bevy of beautiful models showed them off to full effect.

But the main event was a silent auction of paintings, ceramics and jewellery, the proceeds of which will go towards the US$42 million that is required to purchase an intra-aortic balloon pump for the University Hospital of the West Indies. To date, staff at the bank have devised various creative ways to raise funds and the bank will match these funds up to a maximum of J$1.5m.

Pieces on auction were donated by Ray Jackson, David and Allison Sinclair, Damaris E. Mayne, Robert Thompson and Carol Campbell.
