All glitz and glamour

It was all glamour and glitz at the American Women's Group (AWG) Hollywood Ball last Saturday.

With the 'paparazzi' (really a group of young volunteers) lining the red carpet leading to the ballroom, it was Hollywood style from the entrance. Inside, the decor was all black and silver with movie posters from some of tinsel town's greatest films.

The members of the AWG came fully decked out for this one as they went for the fab wear in their wardrobe. During dinner, big screens showed two of Hollywood's legends, Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart in classic movies. The silent auction at the back of the ball room kept guests constantly checking to see if they were any closer to snagging the items that had caught their eye.

But the only thing that would take away the guests from the silent auction would be the dancing and the 50/50 band ensured that they got out of their seats. The band started with some Latin numbers before raising the temperature with songs like Reggae Night, Ring My Bell and Oh What A Night.

Guests out included: Dominican Republic Ambassador Filomena Navarro, Ecuadorian Consul Clelia Barreto de Hunter, Milverton and Mignonette Reynolds, Chris Stokes and wife Kayon, Vinay Walia, Steve and Betty Ashley, Willie Lampert and Anna Kaiser, Allison Peart, Sandra Shirley, Sameer and Leila Younis, Pokar and Sati Chandiram, Katia Villarino and husband Andres Barreyro, Howard Moo-Young, Richard and Lavern Parchment, Valerie Juggan-Brown, Paul Hanna, George Habib, Joy McHugh and Audrey Miller.
