King 'Rancher' ride
published: Sunday | February 24, 2008

Paul Hamilton and his wagon.

Today's Ride takes us back to a time and place where grass was in short supply and stampeding steer was the order of the day. 'Rancher' Paul Hamilton owns this primo '07 F-150 King Ranch, and to look at it in the sunlight, you gotta wear shades.

Shot in the most vibrant orange known to man, Pablo's wagon is the ultimate lick an' fix ... A front-end smash damaged the 'A' pillar and caused the previous owner to part company with his then unspectacular set of wheels.

Well, they say that one man's tragedy is another fella's opportunity! After a bit of planning, Paul shod the beast with 22" granite wheels embedded in 305 - 45 - 22 Kumho ECSTA radials for that solid stance. Next on, the agenda was exhaust, and the 5.3 Triton motor now speaks through a set of glasspacks and quad NWD tail pipes.

But it is the paint that GRABS the orbs in your head; four layers of that chameleon iridescent stuff followed by eight coats of clear produce a chameleon effect that has to be seen to be believed. Walk around Paul's pickup and feast your eyes on shades of green yellow and even red as the viewpoint changes!

All this TLC doesn't come cheap, though, as Paul says he has $350,000 in the paint job alone!! The leather interior is just as fancy, with an eight-inch DVD screen/player combo in the longest overhead console this writer has ever seen!

Best of all though is that the bonnet with its fiberglass scoops and the flawless paint job were all done right here in Ja, so for those in the know that possess some of that real long green, it is no longer necessary to go 'Stateside to pimp yo' ride!'
