MANCHESTER HIGH'S Natoya Goule and André Barnaby of Kingston College (KC) were two of the outstanding performers at yesterday's Pepsi/Jamaica College (JC) Development meet, the opening competition of the 2008 season, at Old Hope Road.

Goule won the girls' Class Two 800m in a record 2:15.8 to erase the previous mark of 2:21.0 set in 2004. She also took the 1500m in another record, but that result could not be confirmed at press time.

Barnaby topped the boys' Class Three 800m field in 2:05.11 to break the 2:09.3 mark set in 1996. In the girls' long jump, Wolmer's captured three top spots. Keisha Wallace took Class One with a leap of 5.39m ahead of teammate Janelle Gordon (5.30m). Jhenelle Facey (5.67m) beat Edwin Allen's Ann-Marie Duffus (5.36m) for the Class Two crown while Judene Thomas (5.28m) beat Marsielle McBean of Vere (5.17m).

In Class Four, Holmwood's Jenieve Range (4.83m) beat Jahaneel Johnson of St. Jago (4.77m). In the sprint hurdles, Simon Dickens of JC (13.7) beat St. Jago's Akeem Smith (14.01) and André Jonas of Holy Trinity (14.03) in Class One, while Lemar Wilson of KC (14.88) beat Javoy Dillworth of JC (15.15) in Class Two.

Stefan Fennell of KC (13.63) beat Deveraux Senior of Wolmer's (13.71) and Devonte Dennis of KC (14.10) in the Class Three 100m hurdles. In the girls' Class Three 80m hurdles, Rochelle Farquharson of St. Elizabeth Technical (12.0) beat Ackeisha Barrett of Wolmer's (12.06). Noel Facey took top honours in the discus with 46.81m ahead of his Calabar teammate Chard Wright (46.52m).

In the boys' 800m, André Barnaby of KC (2:05.11) beat JC's Richie Riley (2:11.82) in Class Three.

Passana Lee of Dinthill was the girls' Class One 800m winner in 2:19.85. She finished ahead of Marvia Lewin of Edwin Allen (2:23.72) and Kayon Robinson of Vere (2:24.69).
