The Editor, Sir:Mr. Bruce Golding's constant dissing of the Opposition by referring or implying that they have mental problems or termite-infested brains is now becoming overbearing and disheartening. The contrast between these statements and Mr. Golding's speeches just after the JLP was declared victorious at the general election is striking. There now appears to be little interest in serving the Jamaican public as a whole.
The 'defence' of Mr. Everald Warmington's statement to the effect that people would not receive hurricane relief cheques if they did not vote for his party in the local government elections, by Speaker of the House, Delroy Chuck on Nationwide's 'This Morning' programme and that it should be seen as a platform speech, is insulting.
Road promises
Then, when we thought it couldn't get worse, several hours later Mr. Bobby Montagues was saying roads will be given to residents of Portland if they vote for the JLP councillor but they should not ask him about roads if they don't, is simply a dereliction of their duty as 'servants' of the Jamaican people.
I am now beginning to understand that words made on a campaign trail are not to be taken seriously. My hopes for a better Jamaica are fast fading, however.
I am, etc.,
