Playing at home for the first time this season, Clarendon's Sporting Central Academy, which ended the contest with nine players, carved out a 2-0 victory over Tivoli Gardens in a seventh-round Cash Plus Premier League match.
The game began at a hectic pace with both teams taking shots at goal. However, the homesters received a setback in the 13th minute when Dwayne Ford was given marching orders by referee Lewin Purser.
With a one-man advantage, Tivoli pressed more into attack but the Sporting Central defence, marshalled by Owen Gordon, stood firm to keep the game goalless until half-time.
Attack mode
During the last quarter, Sporting Central transformed into an attacking mode and were rewarded with a penalty when Carl Wiggan was brought down in the box in the 74th minute. Owen Gordon scored from the spot, putting Sporting Central in the lead.
Sporting Central were to lose a second player in the 87th minute when Christopher Mason was given marching orders. It forced them to bolster their defensive play as Tivoli pressed all out for an equaliser.
As often happens, they were caught out on a counter play and Winston Griffiths hit a shot from 32 yards out to beat Tivoli Gardens custodian Damian Crooks.
