WESTERN BUREAU:

Where in the world would you find real rubies on a belt, tiger eye buckles and revolutionary digital printed clothing that make a statement without speaking?

India, of course! Mumbai, the mecca of fashion, New Delhi, the capital, and Jaipur, the pink city.

But getting to India for such sophisticated finery could prove quite an expensive task, so like 'déjà vu', Rajesh and Neha Kriplani have brought the shopping experience into the Jamaican backyard with their rare boutique which could easily be called a 'woman's candy store'.

The newest addition to western Jamaica's fashion industry, Déjà Vu, located on Rose Hall's golden corridor at Shoppes at Rose Hall, has 'imported' creations from some of Mumbai's top-flight designers to the city of Montego Bay.

Entering Déjà Vu, the unique décor, including a soothing water fountain, captures the eye. This is the store's focal point, but further inspection reveals exquisite clothing, handbags, belts, costume jewellery, beaded slippers and shawls.

Hand-made dresses

Hand-made dresses, a selected few take you to digital print era (that takes sometimes up to two months to be completed), shawls embellished with beaded tassels and jewellery fit for a princess. As if these were not enough, Déjà Vu hands you pure silk skirts with beaded belts in various colours.

Most of the clothing in this store is made from pure fabrics, a lot of them adorned with real crystals.

Not the least discriminatory of their clients, Rajesh and Neha.
