NOTE-WORTHY - Hang them!
published: Monday | November 12, 2007

NOTE-WORTHY

Hang them!

I say hang them ! Remember hanging is the punishment for the crime, some anti-capital punishment persons claim it is not a deterrent (if hanging isn't, then what else is!!).

Even if it isn't a deterrent it is the ultimate punishment for taking another life. Again, I say hang them! If you do the crime then hang on the line.

  • Call for courtesy

Jamaica and Jamaicans need more collegiality amongst the rank and file. Parliamentarians are supposed to represent the people. What are they saying in their actions and how effectively they can represent if they cannot seem to come to terms with each other. In every election, there will be winners and losers.

The winners will be happy, the losers have to come to terms. They do not effectively represent the people by exhibiting their personal dislikes what ever they may be. It works so much better if they could put their petty differences aside and get on with the task of effectively running the country. I am not interested in what they like, I am interested in what they can do. If they are going to let their emotions cloud their judgement, I do not believe they should be in office.

Further to that, they should not be shouting or hurling expletives at each other in the parliamentary halls. My message to all members in government is this: you are there to serve the people, to better the country, to bring Jamaica to a higher level - not the opposite. Now get on with it and make it work!

  • Dead wrong

Mayor McKenzie is 'dead' wrong, and this just goes to show the 'dead-end' thinkers we have on the island. Why would tourists want to visit May Pen Cemetery? Is King Tut buried there?

Maybe McKenzie wants to show visitors how disgraceful we are in vandalising and robbing the graves of the dearly departed souls. Mr. Mayor, we don't want ghoulist propositions, or 'maddenism' from you.

  • Good idea

The idea for converting the May Pen cemetery to a tourist attraction is one of the better ideas to surface since rafting on the Rio Grande.

The improvement that would be forced on this area would be good for the living and the dead. The Mayor should be supported by the Jamaica Tourist Board.
