Expansion is always a sure sign that business is doing well.

Starting out in Portmore's Hellshire community, the taste of Prendy's On The Beach came to 'town' in 2005, bringing with it the delicious, Jamaican-style taste that local eaters have come to enjoy. That location is on Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston.

Founder Donnette Prendergrast describes it as, "an outdoor setting because we like to work under the stars. We brought in the sand and the thatch work. It's the Hellshire setting without the sea." The location provides a different atmosphere. "New Kingston is more of a lyme setting. So you get groups come in after work and chit-chat and have a good time."

There is no fixed menu. The chefs do everything in seafood as the tagline says, "just the way you like it." The pumpkin steamed fish is a big favourite among the diners, especially the men. They wash it down with Guinness and according to 'Prendy', they say it works well.

Upsurge

A hundred diners can be seated comfortably and for KRW, she recommends persons reserve. Hurricane Dean affected many hotels and Prendy's was no exception. But there has been an upsurge. "The size, quality and mixture of the fish we've caught since has been fantastic," she laughs.

For those guests who want the taste of Prendy's to themselves for special events (like wedding receptions) just give them a call. They also offer catering services for parties.
