Excited about new location
published: Tuesday | October 16, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

JUST READ Conrad Jackson's article and noted his position. The three sites commend themselves. However, I give my vote to the present site.

My non-approval of the waterfront site has to do exclusively with environmental matters. We see what hurricanes do with the Palisadoes strip. Isn't the Kingston Harbour threatened likewise? What of the talk of global warming and the rise of the sea? Is it likely that in, say, 50 years the sea could be at Port Royal Street or above?

I have never felt excited about locating the houses of Parliament at Heroes Park (notwithstanding its name).

I am, etc.,

KERMITT McGANN
