Defence lawyers did not get the go ahead yesterday to view the videotapes, in the Peter King murder case. The police took the tapes to court at the request of the defence lawyers representing 23-year-old labourer, Sheldon Pusey, who is charged with the March 2006 murder of Ambassador Peter King.
Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown said that when the preliminary inquiry begins on October 22 if there is evidential basis for the tapes to be viewed then the defence lawyers can apply to do so.
The defence lawyers had applied last month to see the tapes because they said King's killer or killers may be on tape.
Pusey who is being represented by attorneys-at-law, Berry Bryan and Vincent Wellesley, is contending that he acted in self-defence when King made sexual advances on him.
King's body, with several stab wounds, was found at his Waterloo apartment, St. Andrew, on March 20, 2006. His throat was also slashed.
