Former Bank of Jamaica governor dies
Horace Barber, a former Governor of the Bank of Jamaica (BoJ), has died just days short of his 85th birthday.Prime Minister Bruce Golding said yesterday he was saddened by the death of Mr. Barber, who he said "dedicated a signification portion of his working life to the public sector, including as governor of the Bank of Jamaica and financial secretary in the Ministry of Finance".

Sugar crop ends below target

The sugar crop is officially over, but regional producers say targets were missed by 8,000 tonnes, and that they were denied extra earnings from the appreciating euro due to timing."

FirstCaribbean finalises US$20m bond issue for Cayman bank

Deal arranger FirstCaribbean International Bank said Wednesday that its capital markets unit has completed a US$20 million long-term bond issue on behalf of the Cayman Islands Development Bank (CIDB).
