Service for 825 years
published: Sunday | July 29, 2007

(From left) Bridgette Rhoden, public relations officer, staff member and former Miss Jamaica Universe; Patrick Hylton, National Commercial Bank's group managing director; David Dixon, and Earl Leakey, 25-year awardee, share pleasantries.

The National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) last Tuesday hosted their long-service awards luncheon themed, 'In Celebration of our Legacy', at the Royal Plantation, Ocho Rios. Chairman of NCB, Michael Lee Chin, and Patrick Hylton, group managing director, led the team of executives in honouring 29 employees who have cumulatively served the bank for 825 years.

This landmark year, the bank celebrates 170 years of service to Jamaica, and quite appropriately, the awardees who have dedicated years of service to the success of the institution were also honoured.

"Our behaviour today will be our history tomorrow. We have to make sure it is well written," stated Michael Lee Chin. "It is a sentiment I often espouse and one of the many which characterise my existence." He further stated, "As awardees, your behaviour through the valuable service given to this organisation over the years has lent to its growth in varying ways. NCB is grateful for the part you have played in making this institution a valuable one in Jamaica."

The awardees, some of whom served the bank for 35 years, were honoured individually. In applauding their hard work and dedication, Mr. Hylton said, "I would like to commend you on your commitment to this organisation; it is a true testament to your individual characters. You have persevered and shown your worth, and NCB that exists today is a direct result of the value you have added."

The Royal Plantation ambience contributed to the legacy theme of NCB's 170th anniversary. Awardees and guests gathered for cocktails, were met by ladies aptly dressed in plantation style attire, and were treated to a scrumptious fare.
