Take Dancing Sam to win in the eighth
published: Friday | July 20, 2007

Orville Clarke, Gleaner Writer

DANIELLE MY GIRL, running as the 4-5 favourite with Marlee Buchanan aboard, romps home in the fifth race over 1400 metres for maiden four-year-olds and up at Caymanas Park on Wednesday. She was the first of two winners for trainer Desmond Shand. -Colin Hamilton/Freelance Photographer

Both the Pick-9 and Super-6 start anew at Caymanas Park tomorrow, the Pick-9 having been caught by one lucky punter on Wednesday.

He received a whopping $1 million, despite a stunning upset by the 33-1 outsider ALLEGRO in the third race over 1700 metres.

The Pick-9, which starts anew with its guaranteed minimum of $1 million, embraces races three to 11; the Super-6 from six to 11.

We look at the Super-6 which gets under way with a three-year-old maiden condition race over 1200 metres in which 10 have been declared. The race should resolve itself into a three-cornered tussle involving GOSPEL NOTEBOOK, HI-TECH and PRINCESS LATOYA.

The Victor Williams-trained GOSPEL NOTEBOOK has shown little in two starts, but the daughter of Summit Storm has looked improved at exercise since and with good recent form practically non-existent, is given the edge.

The same is true of INDOMI-TABLEWARRIOR in the seventh race, Division II of the three-year-old maiden condition race over 1200 metres. Trained by Richie Todd, the son of Outrigger galloped three furlongs in 35.4 at exercise on Wednesday morning and seemsready to deliver on this his third start.

Other selections

Briefly, consistent DANCING SAM, reporting well refreshed from a three and a half month absence, gets the nod over fleet-footed ALNASKRA, COMMAN-DING LIGHT and up in class hat-trick seeker ASKAWOMAN in the eighth race for overnight allowance horses.

Then, take down-in lass ROYAL MALICE (loves the straight) ahead of RED I and COMIN TRUE in the ninth, 'big horse' DIS-TINCTLY IRISH as a banker (to repeat) in the 10th for the 'Bob' Mayall Memorial Cup and the well-trained NAVAJOJOE over CELEBRATION TIME, ROYAL KINGDOM and ME LLAMO in the nightpan.
