Lola Fong-Wright has re-signed as chief executive of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ), after three years in the job, but she is to be replaced almost immediately by Sandra Glasgow whose background has been largely in the field of education.
Fong Wright who was appointed to the PSOJ in September 2004, tendered her resignation two months ago and will depart the secretariat on July 27.
"I'm going back to my first love," she told the Financial Gleaner. Prior to her PSOJ appointment, she had worked in the financial sector at Citibank for 17 years in the human resource and training field.
"I signed on for a two year contract which ended September 2006 so I really stayed longer than I planned," said Fong-Wright, whose delayed departure allowed her to assist with the transition of the presidency when Christopher.
Zacca succeeded Beverley Lopez.
However, she said it was still too early to say where exactly in the financial sector she would end up.
Zacca, in a statement Thursday, praised Fong-Wright for her "outstanding contribution" to the PSOJ over her tenure.
"She leaves the PSOJ to pursue other professional opportunities and we thank her for her outstanding contribution to the organisation during the past three years and wish her every success for the future," he said.
Fong Wright is credited for assisting with the upgrading of the human resources systems and guiding the establishment of various sector committees of the PSOJ, including national security and corporate governance.
Glasgow, the current chair of HEART Trust/NTA and Senior Vice President of Corporate Services at the University of Technology, Jamaica, will take up her new appointment on September 3.
Glasgow holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree from the University of the West Indies, Mona.
The Eisenhower Fellow, since this year, has been a member of the PSOJ Economic Policy Committee, and also sits on the boards of National Commercial Bank of Jamaica, National Export-Import Bank of Jamaica and the GraceKennedy Foundation.
