LETTER OF THE DAY - Ja needs healthy democracy
THE EDITOR, Sir: Having been on vacation in Jamaica in the month of June, I have seen first-hand the lead-up to the as yet, unannounced general election.

Charismatic illusion

THE EDITOR, Sir: Charismatic leadership, roughly defined as 'creating a self image so powerful that people are naturally drawn to you,' is undoubtedly very seductive. The danger in this seduction is amplified when one feels lost, hopeless, threatened, fearful and essentially in a state of despair.

Agriculture sector needs a vision

THE EDITOR, Sir: A dynamic, thriving export industry plays an important role in Jamaica's development thrust. A progressive environment can only be possible if the specific needs of exporters are met.

Time for constitutional change

THE EDITOR, Sir: I was heartened by Dennie Quill's column in the July 6 publication of your newspaper. In light of the current election campaign I am of the opinion that the time has indeed come for us as a nation to seriously address certain constitutional issues.
