Mullings IN-FORM JOCKEY Oneil Mullings on Tuesday hit a bump in his title chase after being handed a two-day ban by the stewards of the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) for interference in the eighth race on June 23.
Mullings was aboard first past-the-post HEZA RANKING but had his number taken down for hindering the Trevor Simpson-ridden UNIQUE SELECTION repeatedly in the stretch run.
Slow-motion replays on the day also showed Mullings' whip hitting the nose of Simpson's mount, which had mounted a challenge on his outside inside the final half-furlong of the 1820-metre event.
Mullings is currently joint second on 31 wins with Simpson in the jockeys' standings, being led by Paul Francis on 32 winners.
His suspension takes effect on July 18.
Apprentice Oral Bennett also had a run-in with the men at Winchester Road, picking up a two-day ban and $2,000 fine for drifting eventual winner SIR ROMEL in the seventh race on June 30.
Bennett's two-day ban starts on July 14.
