Senior promotions at Digicel
published: Friday | July 6, 2007

( L - R ) Dorrian, White, O'Shaughnessy

Digicel Group on Thursday announced three senior appointments, saying the promotions were designed to position the company for its next round of development.

Kevin White assumes the position of chief operations officer-Caribbean and Donal O'Shaughnessy, who has been with Digicel from its 2001 launch in Jamaica and had responsibility for building out the phone company's infrastructure, is now COO-Central America.

Niall Dorrian, who had the job of COO-Digicel Jamaica, will now be running the show in Trinidad and Tobago, one of the company's youngest markets.

He was recruited last year from Diageo, the parent for Red Stripe.

Group CEO Colm Delves, amid his expression of confidence in the three, indicated that their mandate was to deliver the best value and quality service to stay ahead of the competition.

Dorrian White, an 18-year veteran of the communications business, who has been with Digicel for five and a half years, takes "responsibility for the operational leadership of Digicel's established markets," the company said via a release.

He previously led Digicel's growth in its Eastern Caribbean markets.

O'Shaughnessy has a near-virgin task of leading the rollout of services in Central America.

"He will be focused on getting new Digicel operations and acquisitions to market quickly," the company said, adding it was already 'actively' pursuing new opportunities for expansion to add to its operation in El Salvador, and licence in Guatemala.

O'Shaughnessy's broader portfolio to include all of Central America, the company said, "Is testimony to his success in managing the unprecedented growth experienced by Digicel since inception."

O'Shaughnessy and White will continue reporting directly to Delves, while Dorrian will now report to White.
