Visually impaired ready for challenge

THE JAMAICA Visually Impaired Cricket Association (JAICA) has announced a strong 14-man squad to defend its regional title.

The Jamaicans, who won the 2006 Championships staged in Barbados, will be at home this time around and should fancy their chances once again.

Jamaica will open their campaign against the Windward Islands at Melbourne on July 14.

The Jamaica squad

B1 - totally blind: Omar Richards, Damion Rose, Ripton Dean, Jason Ricketts and Damion McLean. Shavain Daley is thereserve.

B2 - partially blind: Damian Simpson, Dwayne Campbell, Deloris Smith and Canneel Graham. Rushane Blake is the reserve.

B3 - partially sighted: Toussaint Gardener (captain), Dennal Shim, Iroy Johnson, Loshane Myles and Darrel Chambers.

Management: Vivalyn Latty-Scott (head coach), David Robertson (assistant coach), Heather Francis (manager).

FIXTURES

July 14 - Jamaica vs Windwards at Melbourne; Barbados vs Trinidad & Tobago at Up Park Camp.

July 15 - Jamaica vs Barbados at Melbourne; Guyana vs Trinidad & Tobago at Up Park Camp.

July 17 - Trinidad & Tobago vs Jamaica at Port Esquivel; Windwards vs Guyana at Jamalco.

July 18 - Guyana vs Jamaica at Police; Windwards vs Barbados at Lucas.

July 19 - Trinidad & Tobago vs Windwards at Melbourne; Barbados vs Guyana at Up Park Camp.

July 21 - Final at Melbourne.
