Party manifestos ready
published: Thursday | July 5, 2007

The executives of the two major political parties are reviewing the final copies of their election manifestos ahead of the expected announcement of the next general election.

Deputy Campaign Director for the People's National Party (PNP), Paul Burke, said earlier this week that the final draft of the document was with PNP President Portia Simpson Miller.

Mr. Burke told The Gleaner that the document is likely to be made public when Mrs. Simpson Miller announces the date for the next general election.

It is widely speculated that the Prime Minister will announce the date for the election this week at a party mass rally.

In the meantime, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) says its manifesto will be presented shortly to the party's Standing Committee.

JLP spokesman on Information, Senator Dwight Nelson, said the document seeks to address the main concerns of the Jamaican people.
