Diplomatic parking
1 The absence of proper parking at many diplomatic functions is causing some to miss them! It seems save and except for the French and the British, invited guests to official functions at official residences are left to fend for themselves when they attend these functions. Sometimes with parking as much as half a mile away and a hike to get to the actual location, the question some are asking is: Why not have these events at locations with adequate parking facilities?
Snubbing the hosts
2 A number of those from the upper echelons were no-shows at one recent high-profile and well-attended party, as they say that their presence could be construed as some kind of an endorsement of the hosts. And considering the hosts' reputation for being less than honourable in his business dealings. Others, though, despite their constant thrashing of the hosts' character, were out in droves - attracted by the smell of new money, no doubt!
Public guardians
3 Shouldn't those offering themselves for public office and the management of the country's affairs come to the table with a demonstrated capacity of being capable? If those offering themselves to become guardians of the public purse can't manage their own affairs, what then are we to expect if and when they take the reins of power?
It's time for action!
4 People are still waiting to know what disciplinary actions have been taken against the students from the rural high school who filmed each other in their school uniform and on school premises in various sexual explicit poses. The school and the Ministry of Education need to step in and assert some kind of authority.
High-profile defection
5 The defections continue, as now the high-profile model has reportedly switched political allegiance and is in the process of recording a song endorsing her new party and its leader.
Still connected
6 Some are saying there is no truth to the story making the rounds that the 'connected one' boycotted the mass meeting in his parish the other day. His absence was due to a family matter that saw him at his wife's side and not out in his party colours.
No cushy state jobs
7 The ranks of the disappointed within the governing PNP knows no ends, as the many who thought they should have been politically rewarded with cushy government jobs and posts at the taxpayer's expense, following on the elevation of Mrs. Simpson Miller, and were not, are now out on the social circuit touting her political demise.
'Minister of Promises'
8 Some refer to him as the 'Shadow Minister of Promises', as he has been busy left, right and centre promising everyone who makes a donation a major role in a new administration. He wants the Ministry of Mining and Natural Resources, as an oil bonanza is expected!
Still in debt?
9 Is the business still in multimillion-dollar arrears inits monthly obligations, or has the debt been liquidated?
Aiming at the top
10 The campaign by a particular organisation to discredit one top cop has become too uncomfortable for even some who work there!
