Prophecy gives divine direction and is a sign of God's nearness and concern for this generation and generations following. It is God's will for His people to be kept in the light and for others to move out of darkness into the light, thus the rising role of the prophet in the church and the world at large.
Jesus says, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me, shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (St. John 8 v 12).
A true prophet carries the Light of Life, or the Spirit of Truth, when all that he says surely comes to pass because he speaks not of himself, but of that which is revealed by the Holy Spirit. As such, the divine direction given at any point in time, through prophecy, will seek to take one out of a state of darkness, into a greater portion of the Light, or completely out of darkness into the Light.
Gives Insight
Prophecy is that gift which gives clear insight or vision, and accomplishes enlightenment, increased faith and wisdom, victory and weaponry against the enemy, manifestation of miracles/signs and wonders and the provision of creative power, unity, and the enhancement of ministries, to establish positive change.
Prophecies are 'mysteries' unveiled by the Holy Spirit. It is Jesus speaking to our hearts allowing his Word to go forth out of his mouth and not returning void, but having it to accomplish that which he pleases and prospering in the thing whereto it is sent.
Prophecy, then, should be welcomed as it puts us on the right path that God has predestined, and at the same time builds our faith in Him. Prophecy prepares us so that we are not caught off guard and fall blindly into dangerous situations. Children of Light are therefore implored tobe not ignorant of 'mysteries'.
Prophecy is used to remind us that we possess dominion over the earth and that the wisdom of God is upon us, to deal with complex problems which continue to emerge within our modern society.
Answers from God
As we continue to seek God through a profound prayer life and maintain a balanced attitude to other spheres of life, our focused prayers will get answers.
As God gives answers, mountains are removed and our faith is increasingly strengthened. Faith continuously being built will remove doubts and fears and improve our concentration on God's expressed prophetic word over our lives.
God requires us to war with our prophecies; for us to remind him of His Word and promises, and declare by faith that we have received such Word, as this is the great tool which shakes the satanic world. When the devil is reminded of the Truth of the Word, and sees the faith upon which we stand, he will retreat. He has no recourse.
Prophecy accomplishes unity among the members of the Body of Christ, as even the scattered bones were brought together by Prophet Ezekiel. (See Ephesians 4 v 16).
When Ezekiel brought forth life to the dry bones, the sinews, flesh and skin took form. We possess the same creative power that Ezekiel had because our source remains the same. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life; He is Jesus, the one who has left with us his Holy Spirit.
As God has called us to our individual ministries, let our gifts be used to positively change our world.
