Police have launched a manhunt for four prisoners who escaped from the Constant Spring police lock-up in St. Andrew.The escapees are 28-year-old Jason Hamilton of Mount Friendship district in St. Andrew; Dennis Kennedy, 28, of Sunlight Street, Kingston 13; Kevin Whyte, 34, of a Spanish Town address; and, 20-year-old Pedro Smith, also of a Kingston 13 address. Hamilton and Kennedy are both awaiting trial for murder.
Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network are that at about three o' clock yesterday morning, police were conducting a routine check of the cell when it was discovered that 20 prisoners were in the process of escaping.
The lawmen quickly responded and subdued the prisoners, but Hamilton, Kennedy, Whyte and Smith managed to elude them and made their escape.
The men escaped by cutting a section of the grille to the cell.
