Motorola Inc. and the Motorola Foundation have announced a US$20,000 donation to the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP) to create the ACCP/Motorola Scholarship Fund on May 31.The announcement was made at the ACCP's annual banquet, part of the ACCP's General Meeting and Conference held this year in Nassau, Bahamas.
The ACCP/Motorola Scholarship Programme will provide the necessary resources for sons and daughters of police officers to continue their college or university studies.
An opportunity
Through the promotion of this programme, it is expected that students who do not have the available resources to continue their education will now have the opportunity to do so.
"One of ACCP's main objectives in the region is to take an active interest in the promotion of the development of young people regionally and internationally," said Commissioner Paul Farquharson of The Bahamas, ACCP's president.
According to Farquharson, the programme will be targeted to students who wish to continue their education at a certified college or university either within the Caribbean or colleges or universities that are associated with the member countries in the Caribbean, like the United Kingdom, Canada or the United States.
