NOTE-WORTHY - US Embassy found wanting
published: Thursday | June 21, 2007

US Embassy found wanting

I visited the newly constructed United States (U.S.) Embassy, Kingston recently and found everything that is in place was well-designed and organised. However, there are few slacks that I observed just by waiting in line to be processed on the exterior (curbside).

1. What measures do they have in place for the rainy season for people who are waiting outside? The children, elderly, sick, etc., are exposed to the elements.

2. Where is the Jamaican flag on the U.S. Embassy property? I saw only the U.S. flag.

The Jamaican flag should be highly displayed on all official buildings whatever the nationality or nature of business.

I hope that these areas will be examined at the earliest possible time.

Please Leave bootleggers alone

Why is the Government wasting precious time and money going after CD and DVD bootleggers?

They need to put all their effort into getting rid of corruption which is the root of 90 per cent of crime in Jamaica. Do they actually expect Jamaicans to be able to buy legal copies of CDs and DVDs when the minimum wage is $3,500 and the price of a CD/DVD is between $800 and $2,000?

Instead of throwing bootleggers in jail, they need to throw most of the PNP/JLP into prison.

PNP should step down

I travel to Montego Bay on a regular basis for classes. The roads are very bad with potholes making the bus ride very bumpy. At times on the trips people get sick because of the bumping. If you are tall sometimes your head will hit the roof.

May I ask what the Government is doing to fix the main road that leads from Montego Bay to Savanna-la-Mar? They are doing nothing but trying to win votes, lying and promising supporters things they know they won't be able to fulfill. It's time for the PNP to step down and give someone else a chance to save this beautiful country.
