Karen Smith It was Valentine's Day in June at Sunday's It's All About Love concert at the Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston.
The event was produced by gospel couple, Robert and Jenieve Bailey, and featured Dean Fraser, Karen Smith and Dennis Rushton.
A slight deviation from the regular gospel presentations, the concert showcased secular love songs.
In their set, the Baileys clung to each other for their entire performance showing patrons how much in love they are. Clumsy stage work set them back a little but once they got started they truly engaged their audience. With Write Your Name, Stick By Me and No Ordinary Love, they proved very convincing in their deliveries.
"The windows can fall out, but you can replace them, once you have love at the foundation," Jenieve said.
Dean Fraser's collaboration with the Baileys also contributed to the romance.
Karen Smith's set was less heady but the audience warmed up to her infectious smile. She closed out her performance with an Aretha Franklyn medley comprising You Make Me Feel, Say A Little Prayer, and Respect, to the audience's delight.
The night was not all about singing. Lecturer and relationship expert, Dr. Rose Marie Johnson, was on spot to offer tips to a healthy relationship. She pointed out that sex was at the top of men's basic needs' list and women should not use it as a bargaining tool. Men were told that women needed affection most.
The Jamaican Aids Hospice will benefit from the concert.
