Appleton Estate's 21-year-old Jamaica Rum and Appleton Estate Master Blenders' Legacy were both awarded Grand Gold Medals in the 2007 Monde Selection Competition last week.
These are both luxury rums, with Appleton Estate Master Blenders' Legacy being the latest addition to this range of premium aged rums.
"We are very honoured that two of our rums were awarded Grand Gold Medals by Monde Selection International institute for Quality Selections. We areespecially delighted that the most recent addition to our range, Appleton Estate Master Blenders' Legacy, has won a Grand Gold Medal in its first competition," noted David McConnell, managing director of J. Wray & Nephew Limited, owners of the Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum brand.
Star of the spirits

According to McConnell, premium gold rums are driving the growth in the rum category around the world and are being tipped by many experts to be the next star of the spirits industry, and Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum is in an excellent position to take advantage of the increasing popularity of this style of rum.
Appleton is currently the leading imported rum and spirit in Mexico; the leading imported rum in Canada and the leading imported premium aged rum in Peru, and in September of last year they were included in the International Wine and Spirit Record's list of the top 100 leading international spirits brand.
The brands that make up the Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum range include the flagship brand Appleton Estate V/X Jamaica Rum, the super premium Appleton Estate Reserve Jamaica Rum, the ultra premium Appleton Estate Extra 12 Year Old Jamaica Rum, and the luxury rums; Appleton Estate Master Blenders' Legacy and Appleton Estate 21 Year Old Jamaica Rum.
These brands have been awarded over 20 gold medals and trophies in international competitions and Appleton Estate Extra Jamaica Rum was named the World Champion Rum in 1995 by the World Spirits Championship. Appleton Estate Reserve Jamaica Rum was also awarded the Trophy for the Best Rum Worldwide by the International Wine and Spirits Competition.
