Man gets 10 years for Dwight Nelson's son's slaying
published: Wednesday | June 20, 2007

One of two men who pleaded guilty last month to manslaughter arising from the death of 30-year-old Julius Nelson, son of Jamaica Labour Party Senator, Dwight Nelson, has been sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment.

He is Fabian Edmondson, 24, dog groomer, of Southborough, Portmore, St. Catherine.

Sheldon Paige, 20, student of West Cumberland, Portmore, pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to manslaughter and has been jailed for 18 months.

Mrs. Justice Carol Beswick, in passing sentence yesterday in the Home Circuit Court, said she took into account the fact that the men had pleaded guilty.

Nelson was strangled at his Brompton Road Apartment, Kingston 5, on October 29, 2004. Appliances were stolen from the apartment and Nelson's motor vehicle was used to transport the appliances.

Edmondson gave a statement to the police admitting that he went to the apartment on the day of the incident and disclosed certain events of a sexual nature that took place.
