Letter of the day - Shocking statement!
Editor's Note: Below are reactions from readers following the recent announcement by the Jamaican police that Bob Woolmer, Pakistan's cricket coach, died of natural causes, and not murder in March this year. He was found lying on the floor of his hotel room.
Rest in peace, Bob
THE EDITOR, Sir: Please try to make the public understand that in good police work, specifically in latent murder investigations, nothing is completely determinable at the initiation of an investigation.
Thanks to Bob
THE EDITOR, Sir: A lot of negativity seems to shroud the Bob Woolmer death. And I am not too sure that we ought not to be sad that Bob died, and died in Jamaica at the time he did.
Embarrassment
THE EDITOR, Sir: The Woolmer autopsy affair has undoubtedly been a profound international embarrassment for Jamaica, and for all Jamaicans who take pride in their country.
Dr Sheshiah not to be blamed
THE EDITOR, Sir: It is my view that the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) should have waited on the results of the toxicology and histology tests before arriving at a conclusion that Bob Woolmer was murdered.
Had to be investigated
The Editor, Sir: From the mere fact that Bob Woolmer died immediately after the loss of the world-class cricket team Pakistan at the Cricket World Cup, suspicion would be in place. Any news coming from the police had to be swift.
