NOTE-WORTHY - Deportees
published: Thursday | May 31, 2007

Deportees

I think some deportees should be monitored. Jamaicans deported for illegal practices are putting our fragile reputation on the forefront.

Though deportees are Jamaicans, many did not learn their unscrupulous methods here. However, because of the association with Jamaica, others who genuinely need opportunities abroad suffer. This in turn puts pressure on our economy as it is. I say this in relation to those who desire to travel, hoping to send foreign currency 'back a yard'.

The skills that deportees have incorporated may be used to create havoc, so the monitoring of these persons and programmes that are in place for them are very crucial to Jamaica's sustenance.

Iraq liberation

I disagree with Rev. Devon Dick regarding the liberation of Iraq. Saddam Hussein was an evil tyrant who needed to be stopped. God has given government the right to deal with oppression.

Though Christians are being persecuted by radical Muslims in Iraq, the country is working its way towards freedom. Just as the world now sees Hitler as he really was, people will see what a monster Hussein was.

Unemployment query

Grateful if the Opposition Spokesman on Finance and the Public Service could advise me on the following:

In his last two budget presentations Mr Audley Shaw advocated substantial cuts in the size of the civil service, while simultaneously he castigated the Government for not doing enough to reduce the level of unemployment. Isn't this creating additional unemployment when you cut the civil service? I am at sea with the foregoing and need an adequate explanation from the well-learned Opposition spokesman.

False prophet

Concerning Devon Dick and his article 'Benny Hinn and that spirit', great to know that someone knows that Benny Sin (oops!) Benny Hinn is a false prophet! Alleluia!
