Better deal under way for King at Watford
published: Sunday | May 20, 2007

King

LONDON (CMC):

JAMAICAN STRIKER Marlon King has agreed improved terms on his existing contract at relegated Watford, the club announced on Friday.

Club officials did not reveal the terms of the deal but the 27-year-old, who was limited to 12 starts during the recently concluded season because of injury, was thought to be rewarded for his impressive showing on his return to fitness. His current deal which he signed in 2005 will keep him at the club until the summer of 2009.

King finished the Hornets' failed Premiership campaign with four goals and showed great form by scoring in the two final games of the season.

He spent most of the season sidelined after suffering a bad knee injury last October and only returned in mid-April with Watford alreadyplunging towards relegation.

King, recently banned by the Jamaica Football Federation for disciplinary reasons, was the key figure behind Watford's promotion to the premiership last season with an outstanding 22 goals.
