Top apprentices, Javour Simpson and Omar Walker, have been suspended arising from disciplinary actions taken by the Stewards from inquires at the Winchester Road offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission, recently.
Walker, who rode disqualified winner THE BEST MAN in the third race over the straight on Saturday, May 5, was suspended for two racedays for the intimidation and interference caused to LADY NAGIN (awarded race) in the last 250 metres.
The suspension takes effect next Wednesday, May 23 (Labour Day).
Later that afternoon, Walker was again penalised for careless riding aboard third past the post HIDALGO in the 10th race. resulting in the disqualification of his mount.
He picked up two additional racedays for causing interference to TOBAGO and PITTACUS in the last 250 metres of the race which was won by ALLIED-FORCE.
The suspension takes effect on Saturday, June 2 so Walker will be out of action for four racedays.
Javour Simpson, who rode FORMULA ONE in the fifth race on Wednesday, May 2 was suspended for three racedays for the interference caused to COMING TRUE in the last 400 metres. His suspension takes effect today.
Causing interference
Simpson aboard JADORE in the ninth race on May 5, was severely cautioned by the stewards for causing interference to BLUE SKIES AHEAD, SARAFINA, MS. BETTY G and SHE'S OUTRAGEOUS during the race.
Jockey Oneil Mullings, who rode YYESSBABY in the eighth race on Wednesday, May 2, was also cautioned for causing interference to RAZZAK, PACKHU and PRIME POS-SESSION shortly after the start and for drifting to the right throughout the race.
He was however fined $2,000 for ungentlemanly behaviour during the inquiry.
