DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP):
ALL DOPING tests from the Cricket World Cup came back negative, the sport's governing body said yesterday.
A total of 68 samples were checked during the 16-team tournament between March and April in the Caribbean. Two players from each team were randomly selected for testing at 15 of the 51 matches, including the semi-finals and final.
"The fact that all drug tests ... proved negative is a great result for the game," International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive Malcolm Speed said.
"It sends out a very positive message, something everyone connected with the game can be very proud of."
Samples were analysed at laboratories in Montreal and London accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).Australia beat Sri Lanka in the World Cup final on April 28.
