Robert Bailey, Freelance WriterJetsetters B, Skibo B and Eden Strikers booked their place in the semi-finals of the Jamaica Netball Association/JNA Western Union Division B League, following quarter-final victories at the Leila Robinson courts late Thursday.
Eden Strikers defeated Ravens B 24-12, Jetsetters B stopped Bridge-port 35-24 and Skibo B whipped the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) 42-26.
The first half between Bridge-port and Jetsetters was keenly contested with Jetsetters holding a close 17-14 lead at half-time.
Jetsetters B, however, stepped up their defence in third period which resulted in a number of crucial turnovers by Bridgeport as they accelerated to end the third period with 25-20 lead.
Jetsetters maintained their dominance over the Portmore-based team in the fourth period and extended the gap by four points as they romped to an easy victory.
Crystal Gordon led the way for Jetsetters, scoring all her team's 35 goals from 45 tries.
Andreen Dawkin's 17 goals from 23 attempts and Yanique Levy's seven goals from 10 attempts were the top scorers for Bridgeport.
"The game was a very challenging one for me, especially knowing that I am the goalkeeper so I had to mark the goal shooter, which much taller than me," said Loydette Dunbar, captain of Jetsetters B.
"We played our best," Dunbar added. "However, in the third quarter ... I thought we could have done much better in the attacking area and in our defensive quarter."
In today's quarter-finals of the Supreme Ventures Division C League starting at 3:00 p.m., Friendship tackle Progressive Strikers and Omega B oppose Police C. At 4:00 p.m. Jetsetters C entertain Duhaney Strikers and Ravens C battle Grants Pen Archers.
In the JNA Berger Paints Super League, former champions Tivoli A face Jetsetters A at 7:00 p.m. At 4:15, Police oppose Windalco and Blades United entertain Tivoli B. At 5:45 p.m., Ravens A await Waulgrovians and defending champions and unbeaten Jamalco aim at Arnett Gardens.
