The Postal Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) will be resuming its express mail service next week Friday, following a two-week suspension.Gordon Brown, public relations officer for the PCJ, told The Gleaner yesterday that the agency was forced to suspend the service because of the unavailability of forms.
"There were some items which we needed to have available and the situation was that it was out of stock or out of print so things went awry," he said.
High demand for service
Mr. Gordon said not all post offices had suspended the service. But the areas where there is a high demand for the service, such as the Central Sorting Office in downtown Kingston and the Liguanea post office in St. Andrew, were forced to suspend the service.
He said to keep the service in place at some post offices, the agency had to be 'juggling' the forms between the high volume areas and the low volume areas.
Mr. Gordon had, however, denied that the forms were unavailable because they were printed overseas.
"We have a local printer," he insisted.
