The sea splashed against rocks in the background, colourful lights shone brightly and a professionally designed stage draped with white curtains laid ready to accommodate a mix of models.
That was the setting on the lawns of the old hospital site along the famous Gloucester Avenue (better known as the Hip Strip), in Montego Bay for the recent hosting of the Return of the Saint International's Digicel Fashionblock show.
A host of male and female models, some of them having had stints on the international scene, professionally strolled along the catwalk to flaunt the many elegantly designed clothing for Saint International and Dexter Pottinger's 3D line.
The event was well attended and washeld in conjunction with telecommunications giant Digicel. It was the second time that the event was being staged in the west after a successful introduction in Montego Bay last year.
Fashionblock was conceptualised by Dewight Peters when the agency celebrated its fifth anniversary with its first event taking place in Kingston. 'Fashionblock MoBay' was created as a celebration for one of Saint Jamaica's top models - Canice Jackson, who is from Montego Bay.
The Montego Bay event was headlined by Dolce and Gabbana and Calvin Klein model Nakeisha Robinson. Other top models who appeared included Sasha Gaye Hunt, the only black model for Yves Saint Laurent show held in Paris, France, in March this year; Doren Bailey, who models for Fendi; Richard Fuller, and Enyce model Rory Mitchell.
