Portmore seek early advantage
published: Wednesday | March 7, 2007

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

FORMER CHAMPIONS Portmore United will continue their quest to regain the Red Stripe Champions Cup trophy when they tackle Wadadah in a 3:00 p.m. encounter at Ferdie Neita Park in the first of two first-leg quarter-final games today.

In the day's other game, defending champions Tivoli will be determined to defend their title when they take on Harbour View in a 7:00 p.m. encounter.

Portmore, who won the tournament in 2004 and twice as Hazard United in the previously called JNBS Federation Cup, have been in excellent form in the knockout competition with a couple of convincing wins so far.

The St. Catherine team has not really been challenged and looks favoured to book its spot in a third consecutive final against a Wadadah side which has struggled mightily in league play.

Tough task

Tivoli Gardens will have a tougher task when they face Harbour View at the Harbour View Mini-Stadium.

'The Stars of the East' will be back to full strength and looking to rebound following a tough loss to Reno in Sunday's second end-of-round final.

However, the defending champions have also been solid in the competition so far this season and are yet to be beaten by Harbour View in two games thus far.

TODAY'S GAMES

Portmore United vs Wadadah at Ferdie Neita Park - 3:00 p.m.

Harbour View vs Tivoli at Harbour View Mini-Stadium - 7:00 p.m.

TOMORROW'S GAMES

August Town vs. Village United at UWI Bowl - 3:30 p.m.

Waterhouse vs. Boys' Town at Waterhouse - 6:00 p.m.
