( L - R ) McDonald, Hobson and Kelly
The Board of the Postal Corporation of Jamaica (Post Corp.) remains focused on its mandate to effect the transformation of Jamaica's postal service into a profitable, modern and efficient entity. In addition to regular monthly and ad hoc meetings, the board functions through three subcommittees namely:
The finance and audit committee, chaired by banker Ian Kelly, which ensures financial prudence and compliance with all required audit and accounting standards and procedures.
The legal and corporate committee, chaired by attorney-at-law Patrick McDonald, which provides legal guidance and ensures adherence to the highest standards of corporate governance and compliance with statutory requirements.
The marketing and public relations committee, chaired by experienced public relations consultant Clive Hobson, which spearheads innovations that provide corporate-image management and marketing strategies.
The Post Corp. board congratulates The Gleaner Company for its corporate leadership in assisting us in channelling vital information to the public, here and overseas, on the ongoing postal service transformation, via its sponsorship of this weekly Jamaica Post feature. This type of support for the nation's development is exemplary.
Why register mail?
Registered mail is a vital communications facility which tracks the path of mail every step of the way during processing. Regular mail is never recorded, so in the event that your item is not delivered, there is no record of it anywhere in the system. This means that it cannot be tracked or traced.
For businesses, registered mail provides an effective method of delivery verifica-tion, as a record is also kept of the recipient's receipt of the item. This ensures that any obligation on the part of the sender to verify that the item was received is met, such as in the case of an attorney serving a legal document.
Registered mail is a value-added service whenever tracking, tracing and delivery verification of a mail item is required.
Fees for registering your mail are separate from the postage fees, and are quite reasonable, given the extent of the record keeping involved. For details, contact your nearest post office.
