NWA moves to ease morning traffic on Marcus Garvey Drive

AS OF this morning, the National Works Agency (NWA) will be introducing a number of traffic changes along Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston.

The changes are in response to complaints by motorists regarding the unacceptably long delays along this roadway since the opening of the Portmore Toll Road in July 2006.

Stephen Shaw, manager of communication and customer services at the NWA, says there will be uninterrupted traffic flow for motorists travelling in the eastbound lane along Marcus Garvey Drive, between the Portmore Toll Road off-ramp and downtown Kingston.

The NWA also says these changes will allow free movement along the eastbound lane of Marcus Garvey and reduce interruption to the main traffic flow at intersections.

Mr. Shaw said new road markings and signs are in place to advise motorists of the changes.
