Lloyd Myrie remanded, to return to court Friday
published: Tuesday | February 6, 2007

Lloyd Myrie, the former People's National Party (PNP) candidate for North West St. Elizabeth, who is charged with indecent assault and carnal abuse involving a 15-year-old girl, has been remanded in custody to return to court on Friday.

Myrie appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, yesterday, shortly after he was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting the girl.

The offences were allegedly committed during 2005 and 2006.

The investigating officer told Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey that the police were opposing bail on the ground that threats had been made against the girl. The officer said arrangements were being made to put the girl into the Witness Protection Programme.
