Whiteman picked for London post
published: Thursday | October 5, 2006

Governor-General Liaison and former Government Minister, Burchell Whiteman, is set to take up the position of High Commissioner to London, according to a Gleaner source.

Whiteman, who held the positions of Education Minister and Information Minister under the P.J. Patterson administration, retired at the end of March this year.

He will succeed Gail Mathurin, who served as High Commissioner from April 2005 to August 2006. Mathurin has taken up a position as Jamaica's new Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Specialist Agencies in Geneva.
